“Habataku SMEs / Small Businesses 300 Companies”, Hasegawa corporation (silk yarn / product maker) was selected on December 22, 2021.

Hasegawa corporation (Headquarters: Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture, Representative Director: Yoko Hasegawa) was selected as one of the “300 Habataku SMEs / Small Businesses” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. They won the award for “Capturing Demand for Manufacturing”.

<Promote the development of original products with technology recognized by the world’s leading brands. The silk mask is a big hit with 30,000 pieces. “

Hasegawa corporation plans, develops, manufactures and sells silk and other natural fiber materials such as yarn and knit fabrics and original products for daily life clothing. With the exception of dyeing and sewing, it has strengths in high competitiveness backed by product manufacturing through its own integrated production system in Japan and transactions with domestic and overseas apparel brands. The mask, which was commercialized in March 2020 by capturing the demand caused by the spread of the new coronavirus infection, has a sales ratio of over 10% due to the expansion of channels such as EC and direct sales stores in addition to crowdfunding, and is a stable supply to the mask market. Also makes a great contribution.

* Overseas sales ratio is 40% including famous overseas brands. Masks have already gone abroad.

Since 1998, they have been continuously exhibiting at overseas exhibitions (Hong Kong, Italy, France, USA, etc.). By repeating sales activities that do not depend on existing commercial methods, they have won continuous orders, and in recent years they have maintained an overseas sales ratio of 40% (on a monetary basis). They have already exported masks, which are in increasing global demand, to North America and are currently in talks in Europe. Furthermore, they are trying to develop overseas sales channels through multifaceted channels, such as continuing to propose stalls and knit hats to EC sites and retail stores.

* Early response to mask demand, developing masks and derivative products that utilize our strength in silk materials

Focusing on the growing global demand for masks in 2020, they developed masks made of silk, which has a composition close to that of human skin and has antibacterial and humidity control functions. The 3D silk mask “ZEN” with 41 color variations has achieved cumulative sales of 30,000 pieces. They have a variety of masks to meet the needs of customers, such as summer masks that reduce stress in the summer and fancy masks that reduce the resistance of children. In addition, they planned and released more than 300 items of silk knit products such as mufflers and stoles.

* B2C sales will reach 30% due to changes in business formats and product development capabilities that match the times.

At the beginning of their founding, they had a business of subcontracting dyeing and developing yarn for silk fabrics. However, they have changed their business partners from out-of-prefecture crepe companies to local textile companies and have reviewed their businesses in line with the changing times. After the Lehman shock, they started planning their own brand products by introducing multiple circular knitting machines and flat knitting machines while trying to renew their business while receiving a sharp decrease in domestic demand for yarn. Not only planning and development, but also an integrated production system has been built, and sales to B2C have been expanded to direct sales through directly managed stores and in-house EC sites, and the sales ratio to B2C has reached over 30%.
